Is there a better holiday than July 4th? And there’s no better way to kickoff the holiday celebration than with the Freedom 5000.

Although this 5-K has moved around from venue to venue in its six years, it seems to have settled for the time being on Camp Mabry which means a flat, fast course unencumbered by turns and traffic.

The Freedom 5000 begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Nearly 500 runners have already registered for the event which will also have a kids K at 9 a.m.

Since the race will be entirely on the grounds of Camp Mabry, you will need a photo ID to enter the base at the main entrance near W. 35th Street and MoPac.

Packet pickup and registration will be held today (July 3) at the main RunTex at 422 W. Riverside. You can also pick up your number at the race site tomorrow morning and there will also be same day race registration until 8 a.m.
